2017 Fall Public Service Events

  1. Surftown Half Marathon and 5K, Sunday, Sept. 10, in Westerly, RI
    This event is run along the ocean front streets of Misquamicut Beach and Watch Hill, RI, It draws about 2800 runners each year. If you are interested in participating, contact Jim Creamer, KB1MAO, Westerly Amateur Radio Team.
  2. Cystic Fibrosis (CF)Ride for Life, Saturday, Sept. 16 in Westport, MA
    This event has used the SEMARA (147.000) Repeater for the past few years. Expect Ride traffic to start around 8 AM and wrap up around 3 PM. If you are interested in participating, contact Henry Brown, K1WCC, CF Communications Coordinator.
  3. Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday, Sept. 24, Boston Marathon route
    We’d like to build up the team size for this year, especially along the earlier parts of the route. If interested in participating, contact Brett Smith, AB1RL, Public Service Coordinator, Boston Amateur Radio Club.
  4. BAA Half Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 8 in Boston area
    Volunteer registration for this event will be through the BAA’s website. It will open up on Tuesday, August 15. You’ll get an announcement from them, and me, when that happens. Brett Smith, AB1RL, Public Service Coordinator, Boston Amateur Radio Club.
