  1. Byron was a significant supporter of ARES, RACES, SKYWARN and NTS. He is a big loss to our community.

  2. Byron was a good man and was dedicated to the amateur radio cause. Byron performed countless hours of public service with ham radio as a traffic handler, RACES Officer for the Town of Somerset and as an operator for the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Byron will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the amateur radio community.

  3. Sorry to hear that news. Back in the 70s, Byron was one of the late-night crew that hung out on the “Seven-Oh” and “Seven-Six” Rhode Island repeaters. We spent many a night keeping the transmitters warm on those two machines. He will be missed.

  4. Many of you have probably already heard about the passing of Byron K1YCQ from Somerset, MA. Over the last number of years, there has been no more recognizable voice on the repeaters in New England, whether it be on the various traffic nets, or enjoying the band openings that brought in repeaters all over the Northeast. We will certainly miss him.
