Cuttyhunk Island Activation

Bob, K1VV, writes on the SEMARA mailing list about Henry, K1WCC, and Chris, K1KEK, who activated Cuttyhunk Island (USA215 and IOTA NA-046) for the IOTA contest July 25th and 26th:

These photos are of the Cuttyhunk Island Lighthouse activation for the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society on July 25 & 26… The island is the last in the Elizabeth Island chain off the SE coast of Massachusetts…

Do a search for Cuttyhunk Island on the net or on Google Earth…

This is one of the most difficult lighthouses to operate from… The travel there can only be by boat and as you can see operation was conducted without any shelter… They only had an umbrella for shelter and rain and fog on Sunday drove them off the island and to Chris’s boat and home…

Operation was by battery power with and 12 regulator… he battery put out full power for the whole operating period. Everything had to be carried from the boat to the top of the hill.

A big thanks to Henry K1WCC and K1KEK Chris for their outstanding effort to give everyone a “new” one…
