August
is the month for getting ready for what
comes next. For SEMARA next means lots of things: oil
spill clean up, re-install the heating system, plan
for the 75th Anniversary celebration, run the SEMARA
Flea and Tailgate, just to name a few.
So,
how about you? Have you tried 10-meters yet? You know
that you can easily check out the propagation just by
listening. Yes, there are simply loads of beacons, so
high power but most low power. Don’t know who’s
who. Simple, go to http://www.ten-ten.org/beacons.html
and look it up by frequency.
If you are interested in 6-meters, one list is at
http://www.keele.ac.uk/depts/por/50.htm.
You’ll also need a Maidenhead grid square map,
since some 10-m and almost all 6-m and higher beacons
give their location by grid square. Print the PDF files
from Icom
America.
For HF, the NCDXF/IARU Beacon Transmission Schedule
can be found at http://www.ncdxf.org/Beacon/BeaconSchedule.html.
It takes three minutes to go thru the list. WARC bands
were added in 2005.
