Mark KD4D points to an excellent
introductory-level Contesting FAQ, just right for newcomers
to HF contesting, at
http://www.qsl.net/zs1an/contesting_faq.html
.
Mark N7MQ recommends the introduction
to contesting by Mark ON4WW at
http://www.on4ww.be
- click Operating Guide on first page of
site. This should also point out just how "world-wide"
the HF contesting community can be!

NEW ENGLAND QSO PARTY
Contest period? We set it up to start at 4 PM on Saturday
to avoid a conflict with the big Hosstraders hamfest
which ended by mid-day on Saturday. We wanted a 20-hour
event so that's how it ended up. With the new NEAR-fest
following in the footsteps of Hosstraders it didn't
seem like a good time to make a change. Many people
(me included) went to Hosstraders and then head out
for a mobile effort in the NEQP. That's what I plan
to do this year with the new NEAR-fest: http://www.near-fest.com/
Hope to hear you in this year's NEQP!
