Obituaries for W1EB and N1BLF

It has come to my attention that in the past two years we have lost two members that were not remembered on our web site. It is with deep regret we report the passing of SEMARA member Edward Blouin W1EB who passed away at his home in Dartmouth on January 14 2022

Edward was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Henry F. Blouin and Mary (Medeiros) Blouin. He had worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He had been an avid Ham Radio Operator, handle #W1EB, enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending time with his family and his pets.

Ed was very active on the local 2 meter repeater back in the 70″s and 80″s

It is with deep regret we report the passing of SEMARA member Robert Zeida N1BLF who passed away at his home in Dartmouth after a brief period of hospice care. On August 12, 2023

With a degree in radio and television broadcasting from American University in Washington, D.C., Bob imagined a career as an on-air meteorologist but, after serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he eventually found his niche as a sales and purchasing professional in the wine and spirits industry. Bob later became “N1BLF,” a licensed amateur radio operator, and built a ham radio station and recording studio in his home. Upon retirement, Bob volunteered his time and talents to broadcast for the Talking Information Center, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that provides the reading of print information to visually impaired individuals. Bob would eventually make hundreds of voice recordings for the visually impaired and learning-disabled, with more than 600 books, articles, magazines, and manuals available for people to listen to at no cost.

We have a audio library with many of Bob’s recording on our website.
