The tour by Dan, W1DAN and Dave, W1DJG of the WGBH and WBZ studios was an amazing success! The group met at the WGBH studios at 11AM and was treated to a great tour by W1DAN, who showed us the state-of-the-art facility including the two studios including the “Greater Boston” set, the control rooms, master control, and the WCRB studios.
The tour continued at the WBZ studios where we saw “The Phantom Gourmet” set, the WBZ News studio, and the WBZ-TV/WBZ (AM) newsroom. Dave then gave us a tour of the WBZ (AM) facilities, showing us master control, the interview studio, and the roof facilities. Dave then topped it off by demonstrating the backup AM transmitter operating at 10KW.
