FALL RIVER — Gil F. Martin, 63 of New Bedford, died Thursday, August 14, 2008 unexpectedly at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Joan L. (Boucher) Martin and the son of the late Manuel Martin and Olga Martin Gomes. He was born in Acushnet, residing most of his life in New Bedford. He was formerly employed by Isotronics as a repairman.
Mr. Martin was a Ham radio operator, he also enjoyed fishing and music as well as playing SLINGO.
Survivors include his wife: Joan L. (Boucher) Martin of New Bedford; his children: Troy A. Martin, Gil F. Martin, Jr., Charlene A. Martin, David W. Martin, Natalie S. Boucher, Douglas N. Lasiter, Jr., Victor Carreiro, Ramona Carreiro and Corey Wahnon; 11 brothers: Barry Martin, Glenn Martin, David Lewis, George Gomes, John Gomes, Robert Gomes, Melvin Chase, Manuel Chase, Robert Chase, Daniel Chase & Michael Chase; 2 sisters: Lisa Guimont & Debra Melo; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Ronald Martin, Gregory Martin & Ernest Tavares.
