
Leonard “Len” F. Gadomski, 89, of New Bedford passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Rita R. (Gignac) Gadomski with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frank S. Gadomski and the late Una (Lopes) Brown he lived all his life in the City. He was a communicant of the former St. Mary’s Parish in New Bedford.
Len graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School and later attended the New Bedford Institute of Technology for two years. He went on to the service in the Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as an industrial engineer having worked for Morse Cutting Tools, Cornell Dublier, and BorgWarner.
Mr. Gadomski was a Ham radio controller, general class WA1CNO. He was a member of the Cape Cod Kennel Club and the Wampanoag Kennel Club. Len and his wife were active in dog obedience and attained many titles including the American Kennel Club Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carolyn R. Lacerda and her companion Barry Brodeur of New Bedford; two sons, David L. Gadomski of New Bedford and Bruce L. Gadomski and his wife Cindy of Acushnet; grandchildren, Nicole R. Lacerda Mayo of Fall River, Nolan J. Lacerda of New Bedford and Justin Haddock of Acushnet; great grandchildren, Wesley Mayo, Warren Mayo, and Nolan Lacerda, Jr.; two brothers, Charles Gadomski and his wife Alice of Dartmouth, and Joseph Gadomski and his wife Elaine of New Bedford; a sister, Nancy Desroches and her husband David of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman and Ronald Gadomski.
His funeral will be Monday, January 8, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
